We drove east & south yesterday (in the car) very near the New Mexico border (and Mexico border) to hunt down 2 cemeteries. This is a very arid, sparsely populated area where the boomtowns of years ago are now ghost towns. We did find the cemetry in Apache, AZ, but came upon this sign first!

Here is a very, very sad little cemetery that has not survived. John spotted it by chance as we were driving down one of the roads here. It is near the ghost town of Steins. We could read 7 of the stones and the earliest burial there was 1912.
The other day when we were at the "bird ladies" house in Paradise she told us about this Cafe that is just 4 mi. north of Rodeo, NM (where we found our 2nd cemetery) so we decided to try it. It is out in the desert all by itself. Except it is an Airpark. We discovered that John McAfee (the anti-virus software millionaire) had bought 100 acres here 4 years ago to build an Airpark to accomodate & offer training for his latest passion - aerotrekking (kite planing). He sold his software business & is now retired but definitely not idle. He is in the process of building 11 more airparks like this in AZ so this "club" of flyers (there are 200 members so far) can air hop from one to the other. There are also about 8 airstream trailers there to house the fly-in people & those who are there to take lessons. I would've loved to try doing this!!! These little planes are like the Trike Motorcycle I posted a picture of from Tombstone - except it has wings!!! But it is a rich man's sport & not for the likes of me!
