Anniversary at a B & B

"Happy 15th Anniversary"to us!!!! We were waiting for the timer on the camera to go off . . . that's why we look sorta funny!

On Friday we went for an overnight at the Victorian Gold Bed & Breakfast in Jamestown. The house is over 100 years old and there are 8 bedrooms but we happened to be the only couple there on this night so we got a very private breakfast. There was a fresh pot of coffee out early along with some home made biscotti. Then breakfast was at 8:30. The 1st course was baked bananas .... it was just like an apple crisp only with bananas. It was wonderful & we both polished off our portion. Then there was an egg quiche with sausage & potatoes, that was so good. This was very like all our B & B's in Germany, Dana!
There was a drizzly rain while we were there but all the downtown people (or so it seemed) was standing out on the side walk to watch the rain. We need it so badly all over California.

This B & B is only a 45-minute drive from home and it's up in the 49'er Gold Country. So on the way home we took the back roads and it took us 3 1/2 hours to get home but with the recent rain, oh, it was a beautiful drive!! The hills greened up with just the last little rain we've been getting this past week.

And, of course, there are cemeteries here, too. This one is in Jamestown but this was supposed to be a "romantic" weekend, so at least we didn't stop to take pictures except for this one.

This is in the little town of Hornitas, which in it's best day in the 1850's was 15,000 population but today is only 115. Remember Ghirardelli Chocolates? This is where they first set up their business - in Hornitas.
