Grave-Walking Adventure .......

We had a great adventure this day! We searched out a cemetery to take a photo of a Great-Grandparent for one of my sister's friends who live in Canada. This is the "Valton Cemetery" in the little unincorporated town of Valton, Wisconsin. We had a hard time just finding the town! We knew it was near Reedsburg, a good-sized town but the people we asked for directions did not know a town called Valton! So I spotted a police station & asked there & the kind lady looked it up on her computer & even printed me out a map!! After that we drove right to the cemetery. It actually ended up to be about 40 miles farther than we had anticipated from the campground. So the round trip was almost 200 miles from the campground! It is in such a lovely, lovely setting & I think it is just beautiful there. This 1st picture is looking up at the cemetery from the highway. The very old part is off to the right amidst the trees and can't be seen from this angle.
This is looking back towards the town & highway. The cemetery is on a hill & pretty steep at that, so we were constantly walking uphill & then downhill to get our pictures. And since we had come such a long way to get the one photo, we decided to photograph the enire cemetery. So we were in this peaceful, pretty spot for a little over 3 hours & took over 400 pictures.

This is the stone that we searching for. As you can see, the bottom of the stone is not visible & John couldn't dig it up to read the death date because someone had reset the stone & cemented across that area.

We spotted these cranes (?) on the drive over to the cemetery. This entire area is filled with little lakes. Lots of water anyway, so birds are abundant.

This area also had Amish farms dotted around. I took this picture through the windshield of the car on our way by.
