Here we are in Buffalo County, Nebraska at a campground in Elm Creek. There are lots of small cemeteries in this county so we decided to stay 2 weeks here. The only big town is Kearney (15 miles) & all the rest are only villages with no cafes! We found 2 but they close at 2:00. Elm Creek does have a small grocery store.
This museum is in nearby Holdrege, Phelps Co. It was wonderful museum & most of the immigrants that came to this area were Swedish, and of course a large number of wagon trains came through here. Interesting history. There was also a POW camp in Holdrege during WWII. That's another story.
Have had some really hot days & I was thinking the umbrella would help keep heat off me but it was too much trouble to handle along with my camera, so I didn't use it.
This is one "cemetery critter" I would rather have never run into!! But he was very docile. Of course, we kept our distance, too.
